A 19-year-old Virginia Tech student was killed in a boating accident at Lake Gaston last week.
According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, three people were aboard a boat that struck a dock on June 22 at Lake Gaston.

We’re told 19-year-old Jackson Fendley died in the accident. According to the Kyger Funeral Home, Fendley was a Virginia Tech student, and a Harrisonburg native.
Officials said the suspected operator of the boat initially left the scene, and sustained injuries. We’re told he was treated and released from the hospital.
There was one other passenger on board, who wasn’t hurt.
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission said the investigation is still underway and charges are pending.
