ROANOKE,Va – On Wednesday night, doctors and med students clashed in the 13th annual “Docs for Morgan” basketball game.
The game raises funds in honor of Morgan Harrington, a student at Virginia Tech who was murdered in 2009.
Harrington had a passion for learning and education. Harrington’s parents started a scholarship fund in her honor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
Over the last 13 years, they have raised over $550,000.
“Well, it feels wonderful. And it validates why I wanted to be part of the Carilion family,” said Dr. Tony Seupaul, the Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive at Carilion Clinic. “What we contribute to this community is more than just dollars and our time. It really is a commitment of ourselves to the community that we serve.”
The doctors claimed the trophy this year, beating the students 56-47.
