ROANOKE, Va. – One key to good dental health is to start early.
Carilion Children’s aimed to make learning about healthy teeth a lot of fun as it hosted its Super Smile Savers event this morning.
Young people ages 6-16 received consultations, exams, and treatments like sealants and fluoride at no cost.
Dentists say “caries,” or tooth decay, can have a wide-ranging impact on the body.
“It’s known that ”caries” not only affect your smile, which is really important, but caries have correlations with many other conditions, heart conditions, gut health...”
Dr. Karina Miller, Pediatric Dentist at Carilion Clinic
Miller says parents should take a proactive role in their child’s dental health, by checking their mouths frequently and encouraging them to brush their teeth, especially at bedtime.
