LYNCHBURG, Va. – Update:
The Lynchburg Police Department announced Tuesday that it had made an arrest in the shooting death of 31-year-old Kasim Holmes.
The LPD has charged 40-year-old Lynchburg resident Victor Dale Giles with the following:
- 1st Degree Murder
- Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony
- Firearm Possession by a Convicted Felon
LPD says the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Detectives say the investigation remains active and ongoing and they are continuing to follow up on leads and gather information. The department thanked the public for its cooperation and urge anyone with information on the incident to contact authorities.

A person is dead following a shooting in Lynchburg, according to the police department.
Police and fire crews responded just before 9 p.m. to the 1100 block of Rivermont Avenue. They found the adult victim dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The identity is being withheld until family can be notified, according to police.
