U.S. Attorney for Western District of Virginia resigns Wednesday

Todd Gilbert had been in the position since July 14

Todd Gilbert, the United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, resigned on Wednesday, according to a spokesperson.

Gilbert had been in the role just over a month before resigning at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening.

According to spokesperson, Brian McGinn, Robert N. Tracci, First Assistant United States Attorney, assumed the role of acting United States Attorney.

A reason on why Gilbert chose to resign has not yet been given, but 10 News will continue to update this story as information becomes available.
