Lynchburg Police respond to suspected burglary, clear scene on Florida Avenue

LPD says there is no active threat to the community

LYNCHBURG, Va. UPDATE

The Lynchburg Police Department reports that the scene of this incident is no longer active.

Police said they received a call from a resident reporting a break-in and burglary in progress in the 1600 block of Florida Avenue. However, when officers arrived and searched the home, there was no one else inside.

Authorities said there is a person of interest but no suspect has been identified. There remains no active threat to the public, and no injuries were reported.

The Lynchburg Police Department announced Thursday night that officers were currently on the scene of an “active incident” in the 1600 block of Florida Avenue. LPD says there is no active threat to the community.

Officials are urging the public to seek alternative routes as Florida Ave. is closed.
