President Donald Trump approved an emergency declaration for Virginia on Saturday that would allow federal disaster assistance to Virginia “to supplement response efforts due to emergency conditions resulting from a severe winter storm beginning on January 22, 2026, and continuing."

This authorizes FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief efforts to assist Virginia residents as the storm hits the region.
