Roanoke County Police arrest suspect in Wednesday bank robbery

ROANOKE CO., Va. Update:

The Roanoke County Police Department announced Thursday that it had arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the bank robbery in Roanoke Wednesday.

The suspect has been identified as 43-year-old Christopher Havens of Newport News. Havens was found in Marion and taken into custody Wednesday evening.

Havens is being held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon. Officials say charges are pending at this time.


Update:

The Roanoke County Police Department provided an update on the bank robbery investigation Wednesday evening.

According to officials, the department responded at 3 p.m. to a report of a bank robbery at the Member One Federal Credit Union Branch located at 2310 Electric Road. The caller advised that a subject had robbed the bank and fled on foot.

Security footage shows a white male suspect, approximately 5′10 with a heavy set salt and pepper beard and glasses, he was wearing a Vans-branded baseball hat, long sleeve shirt and jeans.

Officials say there were no injuries reported and no weapon was displayed during the incident and there is no credible threat to the community at this time.

Officials say that the robbery occurred at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday and that the scene is “very active”. Police say they have no additional details at this time.
