ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE:
One person was displaced following a house fire that occurred in Roanoke on Monday, Roanoke Fire-EMS Department said.

Crews said they were dispatched to the 1200 block of Buena Vista Boulevard SE around 10:15 a.m. for reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, they found smoke showing from the front of the home.
Authorities said they worked to extinguish the flame and search the home to evacuate anyone inside. A cat was rescued from the building and taken to a nearby animal hospital.
The fire department said they marked the fire as under control at 10:41 a.m. One person was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
Only one person was displaced as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. We will update you with more information as it becomes available.

Crews are responding to a working fire in Southeast Roanoke, Roanoke Fire-EMS Department said.
Authorities said they are on the scene of a working fire in the 1200 block of Buena Vista Boulevard SE as of 10:50 a.m. on Monday.
The boulevard is blocked from 7th to 9th Street at this time, and crews encourage everyone to find an alternate route.
