Virginia sees 1,456 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 179,639 statewide

There are now 3,643 deaths from the coronavirus in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – As of October 30, Virginia is now reporting 179,639 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Friday’s total of 179,639 marks an increase from Thursday’s total of 178,183 cases.

  • 56 new cases in Virginia Beach

  • 39 new cases in Arlington County
  • 38 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 34 new cases in Roanoke County
  • 29 new cases in Henry County
  • 27 new cases in Lynchburg and Chesapeake
  • 26 new cases in Richmond and Norfolk

  • 3 new cases in Culpeper County, Dinwiddie County, Isle of Wight County, Dickenson County, Appomattox County, Colonial Heights, Fluvanna County, Buena Vista, Sussex County, Fredericksburg, Fairfax, Brunswick County and Richmond County
  • 2 new cases in Staunton, Galax, Essex County, Lancaster County, Bland County, Lunenberg County, Wythe County, Cumberland County and Emporia
  • 1 new case in Waynesboro, Page County, New Kent County, Nottoway County, King William County, Manassas Park, Pulaski County, Floyd County, Mathews County, Powhatan County, Greene County, Williamsburg, Middlesex County, Amelia County, Poquoson, Bath County and Alleghany County

As of Friday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 2,811,824 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
