3-year-old boy dies after near-drowning in Lynchburg, police say

Boy died day after incident

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The 3-year-old boy who was being treated at UVA Medical Center after a near-drowning Wednesday has died, according to Lynchburg police.

Police say he died on Thursday and this is still an active investigation.


UPDATE

A 3-year-old boy is being treated at UVA Medical Center after a near-drowning in Lynchburg this morning.

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating what led to the boy being found unresponsive in a pool in the 5100 block of Boonsboro Road.

At about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the scene, where life-saving measures were taken.

The boy was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where additional life-saving steps were taken before he was flown to UVA Medical Center for further treatment.

Police say further information about this incident will not be released.
