Glenvar wins second-ever matchup against Northside with strong offense, defense

Glenvar and Northside faced off in a highly anticipated battle of unbeatens, marking just the second time the two schools have met. The game, held in North Roanoke County, was the first real test for both teams this season.

The Vikings’ student section was fired up, but it was Glenvar making the big plays early. Brody Dawyot connected deep with Jace Forster for a 48-yard gain, energizing the Vikings’ offense.

One play later, Northside answered. Ranger Swanson scored a touchdown, putting the Highlanders up 7-0.

Back on offense, Glenvar faced pressure from the Vikings’ defense. Dawyot was pressured on fourth and long by Haydonn Hutchinson, resulting in a turnover on downs.

The Highlanders’ defense responded in kind. On fourth and one, Cooper Mullins made a big tackle for loss, forcing a turnover on downs.

In the second quarter, Dawyot rolled right and found Tre Dawyot, who advanced to the 20-yard line. On the same drive, Brody Dawyot scored on a short touchdown run.

Glenvar went on to win the game 28-7, showcasing strong performances on both offense and defense.
