Ladies night: Beyoncé, Swift make history as others win big
Four women won the top four prizes Sunday, including Swift, who became the first female performer to win album of the year three times. Beyoncé — with her 28th win — became the most decorated woman in Grammy history. And 9-year-old Blue Ivy Carter — who won best music video alongside her mother — became the second youngest act to win a Grammy in the show’s 63-year history. Megan Thee Stallion, who won three honors, also made history and became the first female rapper to win best rap song. She's also the fifth rap-based act to win best new artist.

Beyoncs message, epic performances stand out at BET Awards

The singer dedicated her award to the Black Lives Matter movement, and encouraged activists to continue to push forward. DaBaby rapped a verse from the Black Lives Matter remix of his hit song Rockstar with Roddy Ricch at the awards. While holding a baseball bat, DaBaby then stood on a stage behind a group of people who had their fists raised high while others held Black Lives Matter signs. During the performance, video clips were shown of the national protests over the deaths of unarmed Black people including Floyd, Arbery and Taylor.

Beyonc's 'Homecoming' lost out at the Emmys
"Homecoming" was nominated for six awards in categories for variety specials and non-fiction programming: Best Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Directing, Writing, Music Direction, Production Design and Costumes. The award for Best Variety Special instead went to "Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney." "Springsteen on Broadway" won Best Directing, and Hannah Gadsby's "Nanette" won for Writing. The award for Production Design went to the live television production of "Rent," while Music Direction went to the "FX's Fosse/Verdon." Fans on Twitter were particularly upset that "Carpool Karaoke" triumphed over "Homecoming," which Queen Bey wrote, directed and produced herself.
Beyonc drops new original song from 'The Lion King'

The song, "Spirit," was released Tuesday and should get an Academy-Award push for Academy Award consideration. The tune comes at a pivotal moment for Nala, the character voiced by Beyonc, in the film that comes out July 18. It's part of an album called "The Lion King: The Gift" that Beyonc is executive producing and performing on along with other artists. The collection is a companion to the main "Lion King" soundtrack, which consists mostly of songs from the animated film, along with a new number from Elton John and Tim Rice, who wrote the songs for the original.
