Jim Carrey, as Biden, mocks Trump loss on 'SNL'

Jim Carrey played President-elect Joe Biden, taking the stage and poking fun at the five-day wait for results. He even offered a throwback to one of his infamous '90s-era lines, calling President Donald Trump a “Looooosseer!” to laughs and applause. Chappelle hosted “SNL” in November 2016 in its first episode after Trump’s election, pointedly critiquing the surprise over the result. “You know, I didn't know Donald Trump was going to win the election,” Chapelle said four years ago. “SNL” has regularly lampooned Trump and his presidency in recent years, enlisting Baldwin to play the commander in chief.

‘Looking real good, Mike!’: SNL addresses Pence’s famous debate fly

Who would have thought that a fly would go viral? You guessed it — the fly that landed on Pence’s head for over 2 minutes during Wednesday’s debate. Jim Carrey returned to the show to play Joe Biden who ends up turning into the famous fly through teleportation. Writers drew inspiration from Jeff Goldblum’s role in the 1986 film “The Fly." The show gave their theory on why the fly appearance happened, and Carrey’s fly is joined by Kenan Thompson as Herman Caine.

'Saturday Night Live' recreates debate in 46th season opener

(Will Heath/NBC via AP)LOS ANGELES – “Saturday Night Live” went political with a parody of this week’s presidential debate, Chris Rock's jab at President Donald Trump and Megan Thee Stallion's message supporting Black people during her performance. The NBC late-night sketch series on Saturday night jumped into the reenactment of the recent debate between Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden. The series opened its 46th season, returning to the studio this week after the coronavirus pandemic halted production. Alec Baldwin returned to play Trump before the president’s COVID diagnosis, while Jim Carrey made his feature debut as Biden. “President Trump is in the hospital from COVID, and I just want to say that my heart goes out to COVID,” he joked.

Obama to join Kamala Harris for 2 Democratic fundraisers

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Former President Barack Obama will join Kamala Harris for a pair of fundraisers next week in support of the Democratic ticket, the pair's first events together since Harris became Joe Biden's running mate. Harris campaigned for Obama in Iowa during the 2008 presidential primary, when she was San Francisco's district attorney. Harris was the first woman and Black person elected to that job, just two years after Obama became the nation's first Black president. People will be able to join even if they contribute just $1, the campaign aide said. Harris has headlined more than a dozen fundraisers for the campaign since joining the ticket.

(The Television Academy via AP)LOS ANGELES – In a virtual Emmys version of the wrong-winner Oscars gaffe, Ron Cephas Jones’ guest actor award for “This Is Us” was announced for another nominee, Jason Bateman. In a voice-over announcement, Bateman was declared the winner for his guest appearance on HBO's “The Outsider,” while the screen displayed Jones' name. Trump lip-sync star Sarah Cooper gets Netflix special

LOS ANGELES Sarah Cooper, whose lip-sync parodies of President Donald Trump are an online sensation, is coming to Netflix with a variety special. Everything's Fine," starring the writer and comedian, will debut this fall, the streaming service said Wednesday. Cooper is working with heavyweight talent on the special: Maya Rudolph is the executive producer and Nastasha Lyonne ("Russian Doll") is directing. The show will include vignettes dealing with issues of politics, race, gender, class, and other light subjects, Netflix said, with guest performers taking part in short interviews, sketches and more shenanigans. In her early Trump satiric video, How to Medical, an expressive Cooper silently mouthed along to the president's musings about the possibilities of sunlight and disinfectant as coronavirus antidotes. Cooper's comedic how-to books include 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings and How to be Successful Without Hurting Mens Feelings.

Kamala Harris kind of digs Maya Rudolph's 'SNL' impression

(CNN) - Maya Rudolph returned to "Saturday Night Live" to skewer Sen. Kamala Harris. But Harris, it seems, approves of her impression. Rudolph parodied the Democratic presidential candidate on "SNL's" 45th season premiere, and naturally, Harris' now-famous "that girl was me" line got ample airtime. She was joined by Larry David as Sen. Bernie Sanders and host Woody Harrelson as former Vice President Joe Biden, sporting a set of sparkling white veneers. Will Rudolph, like Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, pop up throughout the season if her character makes an impact ahead of the 2020 election?
