Country star Kane Brown leads nominees for CMT Music Awards
Kane Brown is the leading nominee for the 2022 CMT Music Awards, which celebrates the best in country music videos. Brown's four nominations for the fan-voted awards show, airing live from Nashville on CBS April 11, include the top honor of video of the year along with male video of the year, both for his hit โOne Mississippi,โ CMT announced Wednesday. Kelsea Ballerini, who co-hosted the show with Brown last year and will do the same this year with actor Anthony Mackie, is nominated for three awards including video of the year.

Mickey Guyton made history ahead of the Grammys as the first Black woman to be nominated for Best Country Solo performance for "Black Like Me." Guyton kicked off the performance with a single spotlight, accompanied by a cello, piano and pedal steel guitar. Guyton told "CBS This Morning" that in Nashville, she felt the pressure to conform to a certain version of country music. After a five-month delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, the awards show wants to bring the live television experience back again. The 55th annual ACM Awards, normally held in April in Las Vegas, were delayed this year and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, for the first time. โI donโt know if itโs gonna look like an NFL Draft night when we hand out the awards,โ Urban said laughing.
