RidgeYaks name Make-A-Wish charity of choice in Salem, Va

The RidgeYaks continued their hot hitting with a 10-2 win over the Wilson Warbirds on Tuesday to kick off another Salem home series.

A six run top of the second inning and three allowed runs in the top of the 9th were the demise of the RidgeYaks on Friday night for the first loss of the season.

Playing their first game under a new name after rebranding from the Salem Red Sox, the RidgeYaks defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds 5-4 on Thursday night in a Carolina League season opener.

After a rebrand, they go by the Salem RidgeYaks, complete with new uniforms and a new mascot. However, they will still take the field at Carillion Clinic Field this Thursday for the fans who come out to watch them.

The Salem RidgeYaks announced Thursday that it was offering a special buy-one-get-one deal for those who were affected by the recent Verizon service outages.
