Kade Witt is pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a police officer through an innovative internship program at the Bedford Police Department, gaining valuable skills and community engagement experience.

In their current space, workstations are on top of one another, visitors have to sit on a narrow bench in a tight hallway, the locker room barely fits two officers, and there are no weight rooms or showers.

He has nearly three decades of experience in public safety, first serving Lynchburg’s fire department, then the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, and most recently as a captain with the Fairfax police department.

Captain Ronnie Lewis will become Bedford’s thirteenth police chief in nearly a century.
