Southwest and Central Virginia are seeing beautiful Election Day weather with clear skies, seasonable temperatures, and low rain chances. A dry cold front and the year’s biggest supermoon are in the forecast.

If you’ve missed any of the celestial events that have happened this year already -- the Pink Moon in April or the recent solar eclipse, to name a couple -- you’ve got one more chance to witness a rare supermoon this year, and it’s happening this week.

May’s full moon will be considered a ‘supermoon,’ which means that it’s full during its closest approach to Earth (called perigee).
