A new regional housing initiative is transforming Southwest Virginia communities through a partnership aimed at expanding affordable housing options for low to moderate-income families.

Danville officials want to hear from its residents on road safety in the region.

Virginia Congressman Morgan Griffith announced Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration awarded $70,000 to the West Piedmont Planning District Commission for economic development planning.

Those safety equipment needs being addressed in Franklin County include electric power tools, fire hoses, radios, and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), according to the county’s release.
