ROANOKE, Va. – Moisture is continuing to funnel into the region thanks to the large-scale flow associated with Hurricane Erin. When paired with cool and dry air moving in from up north, you get showers/storms as a result.
It is a bit cloudy and mild out there Thursday morning as patchy fog continues to spew across Southwest Virginia.
Temperatures will be in the 80s once again Thursday afternoon!
The flood risk for the day is highest for those west of Route 220. This puts an emphasis on the NRV and Highlands, with about half of the Roanoke Valley included.
Rain chances are low through the middle of the day, but begin to increase once we get into the afternoon hours.
Here is a look at 5 p.m., where isolated showers and storms are pushing toward the south.
An area of high pressure will move into our north and east. This will keep temperatures slightly below normal for the next few days with cloudy skies and showers coming and going.
Looking ahead to the end of the weekend, another front moves in and brings more rain. However, cooler temperatures build in for next week.
