'You either win or you learn' Hokies turn the page to Marshall Saturday

Matilda Ekh scored 21 points to lead No. 13 Virginia Tech to a 92-49 victory over Marshall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. Ekh connected on 6 of 9 from the floor and hit five 3-pointers for the Hokies (25-7), who set a school record by winning their 26th consecutive game at Cassell Coliseum. Abby Beeman scored 12 points for Marshall (26-7), which saw its 10-game winning streak snapped.

The Virginia Tech Hokies and Marshall Thundering Herd are battling it out in Blacksburg in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Despite forcing overtime, the Thundering Herd held on for the 95-92 win.

The Thundering Herd remained undefeated after outlasting Virginia Tech 24-17.

Marshall says it intends to end its affiliation with Conference USA a year early.

Holliday joined the Thundering Herd in 2009 and led the team to an 85-54 record. Holliday is a former West Virginia linebacker, longtime WVU assistant, and also an assistant at NC State and Florida.
