One dead after school bus crash in Southwest Virginia

No students were on bus during crash

RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. – A woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Russell County.

It happened Wednesday around 4 p.m. on Dante Road near Route 759.

A Honda CRV crossed the center line and hit a school bus head-on, according to the Virginia State Police.

The driver of the Honda, Diana Salyers, 56, of Nora, died at the scene, according to the Virginia State Police.

The driver of the bus, Arthur Hicks, 58, of Castlewood, suffered minor injuries and was checked at the scene by emergency medical services. He was wearing a seat belt.

No students were on the bus at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
