ROCKBRIDGE (WSLS) -Police confirm that the man who was injured while making meth at the Fairfield rest area has died from his injuries.
The incident happened on October 1.

Investigator Tony McFaddin with the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Department says the man was amaintenancee employee at the rest area.
Investigators say the man appeared to have been making methamphetamine in the maintenance building when an explosion occurred from the process.
He suffered severe burns, and was given first aid on the scene.
He was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville where he passed away early this week.
The rest area was closed for a brief time to for investigators and to clean up the hazardous materials that were used in this attempt to use the shake and bake method of manufacturing methamphetamine.
The name of the employee has not been released pending next of kin notification.
