COVINGTON (WSLS) - When you walk inside Cucci's restaurant in Covington you feel like part of the family. Victor and Janet Cucci opened the place in 1977 the same year they got married. After thirty seven years the business is as successful as ever. Part of that success is because of great food but the other part is great service.

Everyone has a smile on their face and a sense of community pride especially during high school football season. A football signed by the 1984 Covington Cougars team is in a glass box above an immaculately kept salad bar. The trophy is special because that is the year the team won the state championship.

Victor is originally from Sicily and his wife is from Philadelphia. That combination may explain why one of the menu favorites is the pizza steak which is a Philly cheese steak with homemade marinara sauce on top. The special sauce is a secret recipe. When asked about the ingredients Victor replied in a thick Italian accent, "Forget about it."

For some people Cucci's a weekly and sometimes daily tradition. You won't find a calzone on the menu, instead look for pizza turnovers.

With a family atmosphere that supports the community and local athletics WSLS 10 is proud to call Cucci's in Covington this week's Taste of Your Town.
