FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A woman accused of killing a 76-year-old woman while driving drunk while having children in the car was indicted Monday. 

Erica Hall was indicted in Franklin County Court on one felony involuntary manslaughter DUI, two felonies of child abuse and neglect, one misdemeanor of driving under the influence, one misdemeanor driving on a revoked license subsequent offense.

3-year-old meets Franklin Co. Lieutenant who saved his life

Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on September 25, 2014, in Franklin County. The crash occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Route 670, less than a mile west of Route 668.

A 1998 Dodge Caravan was westbound on Route 670. As the vehicle came into a curve, it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 2002 BMW 330i.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan, Erica G. Hall, 24, of Wirtz, Va., was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt. Her three passengers were all transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries, too. None of the passengers was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the BMW, Cleo W. Smith, 76, of Wirtz, Va., died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.

Hall was charged with reckless driving.
