BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - The Bruins of Blacksburg High haven't had to hire a new football coach in four decades. Hall of Famer David Crist retired from coaching after 40 years at the helm, and 239 victories, which included a pair of VHSL state titles. Â Â Â
Now Blacksburg turns to a Richlands graduate--who's coached in the area before..as an assistant at Richlands, Radford, and Virginia high.

'Thad Wells' comes to Blacksburg from Colleton prep in South Carolina where he was the head varsity coach and assistant athletic director. He's got all southwest Virginia roots--in a big way.Â
He's a Radford University graduate and got his masters from Liberty. He was a safety and running back for Emory and Henry college.Â
Wells will be introduced at tomorrow's winter pep rally at Blacksburg high.
