ROCKBRIDGE CO. (WSLS 10) - Rockbridge County Schools typically build four or five snow days into the calendar but this year they did not. Last year Rockbridge County had to take 14 snow days and extended the school year.
Superintendent Jack Donald says snow days weren't included this year because the board was trying to provide a calendar that got students out as soon as possible while starting as close to but before Labor Day.

The 2015-2016 calendar includes five built-in snow days.
As of Friday, Rockbridge County has now missed seven days. To make up for the missed days they are shortening spring break by two days and adding days in June.
Assistant Superintendent Phillip Thompson says school was supposed to end on June 5th but now it could be extended to June 10.
Thompson says the school board could review that depending banked time or extending the school day but he says that has not happened in the last eight years and because of transportation issues it would be difficult.
"Every year it is battle over the calendar over what's best for schools and what's best for the kids and the families," said Thompson. "You're not going to make everyone happy."
