RICHMOND (AP) - Organizations representing Virginia teachers and school administrators won't be allowed to intervene in a legal battle over public disclosure of teacher evaluation data.
Education officials say a Richmond judge on Monday rejected requests by the Virginia Education Association and its Loudoun County affiliate, the Virginia School Boards Association and the Virginia Association of School Superintendents. The judge said he will decide later on a motion by the Loudoun County School Board to intervene in the case brought by Brian Davison of Leesburg.
Davison is seeking student achievement data that some schools use to measure teacher performance. A judge in January ordered the state to release that information, including teachers' names, but the disclosure was put on hold when the education associations asked to intervene. The groups oppose the data's release.
