BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - As the death toll continues to climb in Nepal, after a 7.8 earthquake destroyed the region, students on Virginia Tech's campus came together to help the Nepali people.

The Nepalese Student Association held a vigil tonight to remember the lives lost from the earthquake.

Many Nepali students are glad family members survived and and even more pleased the Hokie community is showing support. Many Hokies signed a banner that read "Hokies for Nepal."

Administration officials at Virginia Tech set aside $15,000 for any student who wants to study at a university in Nepal. After the candles were lit, the Hokie community stood in silence.

The president of the Nepalese Student Association said starting tomorrow until reading days of next week, several organizations will be on campus asking for donations to help the Nepali people.
