RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The speculation is over. The worst kept secret in Richmond is out.

Former Virginia Delegate and Virginia Senate candidate Joe Morrissey confirmed Wednesday that he is the father of a baby boy with his former secretary 19-year-old Myrna Pride.

Morrissey admitted to fathering baby Chase on the Jack Gravely Show that airs on WLEE radio.

A news conference is set for later Thursday, where Morrissey is expected to introduce his family. Pride and baby Chase ("if awake") are expected to be in attendance.

Gravely insisted that Morrissey had ‘produced' the baby with the young woman at the center of the former delegate's teen sex scandal and then walked away. Morrissey fought back, saying yes, that is his son — but he didn't walk away from anything.

Morrissey served six months in jail after entering an Alford plea to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in December 2014.

Thursday's news conference is set for 3 p.m.
