Christiansburg Police Chief Mark Sisson said the tournament has grown, nearly tripled since it started. Sisson said he and a group of people wanted to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty, like former Christiansburg Police Officer Terry Griffith.
Griffith was killed after trying he tried to arrest a man suspected for shoplifting back in September of 1994. Griffith's daughter, Ashley Griffith said she's grateful to see so many people showing their support for the men and women who put their lives on the line.
"It's a wonderful thing, citizens really need to understand how much our law enforcement does for them," Griffith said.
The tournament continues Sunday at 9 in the morning at Harkrader Sports Complex in Christiansburg.
