Police: Dispute between neighbors turns deadly in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Henry County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder. Authorities said they responded to a 911 call at Northview Garden Apartments located at 755 Stultz Rd on Sunday. The call was in reference to a shooting that occurred in Building 300.

According to the Henry County Sheriff's Office, when deputies arrived they found Dominique Obryant Waller, 24, of 306 Northview Garden Apts., lying at the doorway of his apartment. Waller had gunshot wounds and was taken to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was later pronounced dead.

Deputies brought in John Henry Wells Jr., 55, of 307 Northview Garden Apts in connection to the shooting. Authorities said Wells has been cooperative and admitted he and Waller have had animosity between them for some time. This afternoon, comments were made between the two and Wells produced a handgun and shot Waller.

John Henry Wells Jr. was arrested and charged with one count of First-Degree Murder and one count of Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Wells is currently incarcerated in the Henry County Jail without bond.

The incident is still under investigation as police are still obtaining statements from individuals with relevant information.

The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
