ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - People in Roanoke are helping those who are less fortunate. Volunteers with the non profit organization "JoyBell Ministries" fed about 60 people at the Samaritan Inn in downtown Roanoke.
Before people ate, volunteers had a worship service. Organizers said they want to spread a message of hope.

"If we can instill a ray of sunshine a little bit of hope to get them to know that this isn't it.. this is just a stepping stone and they can elevate," LaVerne Norman, JoyBell Ministries Director said.
Norman said this is the 6th year volunteers have participated in the event.
