Multiple people hurt following head-on collision in Bedford

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - Four people were hurt following a two vehicle car crash, according to the Bedford Fire Department.

Captain Matt Scott said the department responded to a report of a head-on collision around 1:50 Saturday afternoon near the 400 block of Moneta Road.

Upon arrival, the first engine found two vehicles heavily damaged with both drivers trapped, said Scott.

Four patients were taken to Roanoke Memorial hospital, three of which were in serious condition.

The department said one critically injured patient was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Carilion Life Guard 10.

Scott said traffic on Moneta Road was detoured around the accident for an hour and a half.

The crash remains under investigation.
