NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Nashville woman who recently purchased her first house says she has gotten the keys after battling with the home's former owner.

Tamara Holloway closed on her home June 1, but 10 days later, the former owner, Justin McCrory, was still living there.

According to McCrory, he had a right to still be in the house, but there was not an amendment in their agreement saying he could stay past the closing date.

"I technically don't have to go anywhere," he previously told News 2.

Holloway told News 2 on Monday she got the keys to her new home over the weekend.

"You have brought awareness to this situation and I truly don't know and truly don't believe if this would have happened so quickly if it wasn't for you," she said.

The Greater Nashville Association of Realtors told News 2 to always make sure you have the keys to the home before signing closing documents.
