ROANOKE (WSLS10) - The first Red Wing Shoes store in Southwest Virginia opened in the Towers Shopping Center on Friday.
The Minnesota company offers an array of heavy-duty steel-toed boots, hiking shoes, sneakers and its popular vintage wear known as the ‘Heritage' line.

The shoes are specifically designed for the demanding work of industries such as mining, farming and construction.
"Of course with the railroad here and just the business climate, the need for the store is filling a void here," said Owner Mike Collison. "So, it was a good fit for us."
Collison said he hopes to offer the new women's line which launched last week within the next year.
