Sheriff's office identifies man who died at Turman Lumber Company in Montgomery County

Truck was in reverse when it was started

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – A 52-year-old man was killed while working on a tractor-trailer in Montgomery County.

William Kindler Jr. was killed early Wednesday morning, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the Turman Lumber Company on Fire Tower Road shortly before 6 a.m. on Wednesday. 

Upon arrival, deputies found a man who had been hit by a tractor-trailer cab.

Deputies say it appears the truck, which was being worked on by the man, was in reverse when it was started.

The man was knocked to the ground and run over by the front wheels of the cab. 

The Sheriff's Offices believes the incident appears to be accidental in nature.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and is conducting its own investigation of the incident.
