Liberty cleaning up after historic graduation weekend

18 campus locations used for graduation

LYNCHBURG – Eighteen different locations at Liberty University are returning to normal after one of the biggest graduation weekends in the university's history.

President Donald J. Trump delivered Saturday's commencement speech.

WSLS 10 caught up with crews as they removed the temporary floors used in the LaHaye Ice Rink. The rink was one of the places students received their degrees after the main ceremony.

University officials said multiple crews started cleaning up Saturday morning. The 17,000 chairs used for the weekend ceremonies will go back to a storage facility in Farmville.

"We got lots of compliments on how we handle the crowd. But I would like to point out that this was just not a Liberty event. We had a lot of help from the City of Lynchburg and a number of their departments were here, such as fire and rescue, police, state police, the Secret Service, as well as police from other local jurisdictions were here to help pull this of," said Lee Beaumont, seinor VP of auxiliary services.

The stage, audio and visual equipment inside Williams Stadium was also taken down Saturday. It will take about a week to get everything back in place.
