UPDATE: Man hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the foot

It happened just before noon on Saturday



A man was taken to the hospital with an accidental gunshot wound in Roanoke County. 

Police say the call came into dispatch at 12:09 p.m. on Saturday.

When officers arrived, they were told the man was shot by someone else. It was later determined the wound was self inflicted. 

The shooting is under investigation. Police say charges are pending. 


A man was taken to the hospital after he was shot in Roanoke County. According to police, the shooting happened near a neighborhood on the 4000 block of Elm View Road. Roanoke County police remain on scene. Multiple officers responded to the incident.

Police said the man was the only person injured. It's unclear at this time the details surrounding the shooting.

Roanoke County dispatchers said the 911 call came in just after noon on Saturday.
