Family members called police when the driver did not come home

HENRY COUNTY, Va. – State police believe alcohol factored in a fatal Henry County crash.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. Sunday on Route 57 near Route 606.

State police say a 2001 Suzuki Sidekick was traveling west on Route 57 when the SUV ran off the right side of the roadway and over an embankment.

Family members called police Monday morning after the driver did not come home.

Troopers searched the suspected route taken from the last known location to the driver’s home. They found the SUV in an embankment, where it was not visible from the roadway.

State police identified the driver as 48-year-old Patrick Springs resident Ance Philip Cline. State police say he was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
