University of Virginia football team recognizes boy with skin disorder and his friend

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia recognized a local boy and his best friend we recently featured in 10 News' Making a Difference segment.

The Virginia football team named Evan Groves a Thursday Hero.

Each week, the team honors a kid overcoming tough circumstances.

We recently shared the story of Evan, who suffers from a rare genetic skin disorder, and his best friend, Parker Willis, who helps care for him while at school.

The team gave both boys tickets to a monster truck show and shared a special message from their favorite driver, Grave Digger.

Thursday's Heroes is a recognition effort that followed Coach Bronco Mendenhall to Virginia last season.
