BLACKSBURG, Va. – Smoke at Torgersen Hall on Tuesday prompted an evacuation, according to Virginia Tech police.
Authorities said the building was evacuated out an "abundance of caution" when smoke came from the central air system.

Fire, police and facilities crews responded. Authorities determined the smoke was caused by a worn-out belt in the HVAC system.
The problem was fixed and the building is operational again.
