Here’s a look at some of the stories we’ll be following today as they make headlines across Southwest Virginia:

  • Today, rising 4th-6th graders will have the chance to explore Normandy during this year’s World War II Day Camp. Children can experience the history and culture of northern France at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford. Daily activities, snacks and a T-shirt are included if you registered. It’s happening from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • The Giles County School Board will hold a work session this afternoon. It will be to discuss the budget and upcoming projects. The meeting starts at 1 p.m.
  • The 9-hole mini-golf course is back downtown. The Downtown Putt Around opens this afternoon in Century Plaza. Admission is $5 and kids 6 years old and under are free. Putt-Putt starts at 4 p.m.
  • Botetourt County Public Schools is holding its classified job fair and hiring event. It’s happening at Lord Botetourt High School from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome and pre-registration is not required. If you are interested, you are urged to be prepared to interview for a variety of open positions.
