Eclipse warning: Beware of 'Lizard Man' during solar event

South Carolina residents warned of appearance of Lizard Man

SOUTH CAROLINA – Let's get this out of the way right off the bat: This is not an April Fools' joke.

While most concerns surrounding this month's eclipse concern fake glasses that may cause serious eye injuries, one state is actually warning its residents of something much more sinister.

Beware the Lizard Man!

As eclipses usually conjure up stories of the paranormal or bizarre, the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) tweeted out a map showing where Lizardmen have been sighted in the state in the past.

This would be a good time to reiterate that this is not a prank.

According to the map, there have been seven previous sightings of lizardmen in South Carolina, although those have occurred without an eclipse overhead.

"SCEMD does not know if Lizardmen become more active during a solar eclipse," the post reads. "But we advise that residents of Lee and Sumter counties should remain vigilant."

So if you are planning to view the August 21 eclipse from the great state of South Carolina, a can of Lizard Man repellant would seem to be a must.
