SALEM (WSLS 10) Help Save the Next Girl hopes to shed light on a Roanoke County cold case.

Family members of  Joan Cook released doves in hopes she'll be found.

Help Save the Next Girl gathered family members and passed out fliers in front the Dollar Tree in Salem.

Family members say the last time they saw Cook was in January of 2010.  

Roanoke County Police say Cook left her home around 11 p.m.

Around 5 a.m the next day, her husband received a text message, which was the last time he heard from Cook.

Cook's mom is glad to see everyone showing support.

"It's fantastic, I just could not believe, joan, she would be so pleased, I just can't imagine how many people showed up, after 5 years, it's wonderful," Lucy Huffman said, Cook's mother said.
