UPDATE: Lanes back open after vehicle fire temporarily closes part of I-81

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – 6:00 a.m. Update

VDOT reports that all lanes are back open with delays lingering.

Drivers traveling north on I-81 in Montgomery County can expect delays due to a vehicle fire at mile marker 124.8, according to VDOT.

All north lanes are closed. Traffic is being rerouted off I-81 north at exit 118 onto US-460 then back onto I-81 at exit 128.
