What's News Today (WSLS 10)

The rising number of COVID-19 cases has many school districts starting 2021 with all virtual learning, including Allegany County, Charlotte County, Lynchburg and Galax.

The Roanoke City Council meets officially for the first time with new members Robert Jeffrey and Stephanie Moon. Patricia White-Boyd will become the new Vice-Mayor. They are also planning a public hearing Tuesday, January 19 to get input about prohibiting guns in certain city facilities. As we’ve reported, in July, a new Virginia Code allowed localities to adopt an ordinance prohibiting guns on city property. It’s something Mayor Sherman Lea has been advocating for since the Virginia Beach shooting.
