Hiring fairs, vaccine clinics and what else you can expect today

Here’s a look at some of the stories we’ll be following today as they make headlines across the country and Southwest Virginia:

  • The Virginia Department of Health holds mobile vaccine clinics today. In the New River Valley, you can get a vaccine between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Pulaski Department of Social Services. In the Roanoke Valley, there’s a clinic at the Bent Mountain Fire and Rescue from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at Pilgrim Baptist Church.
  • If you’re looking for a job, Carrabba’s Italian Grill is holding a hiring fair today and tomorrow. It will hold virtual and on-site interviews between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • The Roanoke Regional Chamber kicks off the Virginia’s Blue Ridge Series today. Throughout the month, leaders will talk about a variety of topics relevant to the current business climate. Today’s topic is the state of tourism. The discussion begins at 8 a.m. at the Vinton War Memorial. Registration is required.
  • Lynchburg City Council will meet today in a closed session. The board will interview candidates for the City Attorney position. The City Attorney provides legal services for City Council, the City Manager and the Lynchburg School Board.
