New art project brings colorful facelift to downtown Lynchburg parking deck The mural is going up on the Midtown parking deck on 10th & Commerce Streets
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Downtown Lynchburg is getting a facelift through a new art project.
A colorful mural is going up on the Midtown parking deck on 10th and Commerce Streets.
Four floors will feature patterns designed by staff members at the Downtown Lynchburg Association .
The painting is sponsored by Bank of the James and installed by volunteers, with the hope of driving more traffic to the area.
“[The parking deck] is actually, I think, a spot that a lot of people don’t know about. By putting a mural on it and making it a little bit prettier and more exciting; we hope to draw attention to it so that people feel like when they come downtown, there are lots of places for them to park and walk,” said Ashley Kershner, executive director of the Downtown Lynchburg Association.
The project is expected to be complete next week.
