Salem Red Sox prepare for a jam-packed season of family fun ahead of its home opener on April 8

This is the teams first season bringing fans back at full capacity since the pandemic

SALEM, Va. – Baseball is back in Salem this weekend!

The Salem Red Sox will have their home opener on Friday, April 8 at 7:05 p.m. vs the Lynchburg Hillcats.

This is the teams first season bringing fans back at full capacity since the pandemic. Fans can enjoy fireworks, glow sticks, balloon art and a magnet giveaway on Friday night.

On Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m. the Salem Red Sox will host a family block party. There will be games, food trucks, a DJ, a photo booth and face painting in the front office parking lot. The first pitch will be at 1:05 p.m.

Following the block party, on Sunday, April 10 kids can run the bases after the game at 5:05 p.m.

Blair Hooke, the Assistant General Manager/ Vice President of Tickets Sales & Services says, “We have been ready to welcome fans back. This time last year we opened the gates at 30% capacity, a delayed start to the season, we had pod seating. This season we are excited to be 100% capacity and we encourage fans to look at the variety of ticket packages available for the best value.”

The team has a lot more fun for the family planned for the rest of the season. On April 23, they will be celebrating Halfway to Halloween. This is a night to dress up in your Halloween costume and trick-or-treat around the ballpark.

On May 7, the Salem Red Sox will be posting their T-shirt giveaway. You can your family can get the newest Red Sox shirt for free. There are also a number of bark in the park nights. You can bring your furry friend and enjoy the game.
